Reboot 2016 holds on December 14th 2016 at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

A peek into the future shows Information Technology taking over the non I.T literate workforce. VIRTUAL NIGERIA plans to save the future through REBOOT, an annual event that teaches and enriches the youth with the knowledge of Open Source using Red Hat Linux as a standard. Red Hat is an enterprise Linux operating system that helps companies reduce cost globally while increasing productivity with products that are less complicated and super efficient; hence, needing less hands.

A few I.T projects posing a major threat to the non I.T literate workforce are: In a few years, Retail banking will come close to zero, there will hardly be need for people to go to banking halls as almost everything will be available online.

Uber to introduce self driving cars- thousands of Uber drivers to lose their jobs.

Awarded “Best App of 2016” by Google, ‘Houzz’, an interior design app set to reduce the revenue in the interior design industry.

Many accountants have relied on accounting software for years, but the landscape is changing, with software becoming easier to use and more consumer-friendly than ever before. For startups and small businesses, automating their accounting needs is an attractive alternative to paying an expensive accountant.

And so much more

As a well established fact, the power of Open Source cannot be over-emphasized when it comes to innovations in the I.T sector

Riding on the power of networking, attendees are allowed to network with recruiters and professionals who have already attained a high level of success in open source.

Every year, from REBOOT, Virtual Nigeria grants 10 participants scholarships worth USD 3,500 each. This year, the event is expected to attract over 5,000 participants

Timi Dakolo @timidakolo will be attending #reboot2016 and will possibly share his story and also how IT is affecting his industry and craft positively.
A quick peek into his bio:

Timi Dakolo (born: January 20, 1981) is a Nigerian singer. He emerged winner of the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007. With his victory, he got a recording contract with Sony BMG, in addition to other prizes.Timi Dakolo was born in Accra, Ghana to a Nigerian father, Bayelsa-native David and a Ghanaian mother, Norah, who died when Dakolo was thirteen. Despite being born in Ghana, Timi has a Nigerian passport and does not claim dual citizenship. His grandmother Ateni Dakolo and his aunty Susan Larry, who lived in Port Harcourt raised him, and he credits her as his early singing teacher. So deep was their relationship that Timi declined an offer to move to Lagos with his parents, opting to stay back in Port-harcourt with his grandmother. Timi started singing in church at the age of twelve. In 2003 he joined the singing group Purple Love as a founding member. They dominated the Port Harcourt club circuit, but disbanded in 2005 as all its members had gained admission into the University of Port Harcourt. Around that same period, Timi won a local talent hunt contest G.E FACTO held in Port Harcourt. In 2006, Dakolo auditioned for reality show Idols West Africa in Calabar. His songs of choice were Commissioned’s More Than I and Lemar’s Time to Grow. His vocals impressed the judges, and he was seen as a contender for the prize. A week before the viewing of the Top 24 performances, Dakolo received the news that his grandmother had died. Dakolo first auditioned in Calabar, Cross River State of Nigeria with Commissioned’s More Than I and Lemar’s Time to Grow. While in the competition, Timi Dakolo was never in the bottom 3. In the final three weeks of the competition it was revealed by the producers of the show that Timi had the highest number of votes each of those weeks.
